1) Open server.xml file
a) Using Notepad++, open the file [Tomcat_home]/conf/server.xml.
b) The related section can be found at line no. 128.

c) We will change host name to "liferay.local"

2) Start the Tomcat server.

3) Browse the new URL, http://liferay.local:8080

NOTE:
You may need to change the host name in your Operating System setting as well.
For Windows, edit the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Add liferay.local as follows:
