Installing the MVS Turnkey OS

1. Decompress the turnkey-mvs-3.zip using your favourite Unzip utility like Winrar, Winzip etc into C:\MVS_Turnkey_Image.

2. Extract the turnkey-mvs-3.iso file using WinRAR utility into C:\Turnkey_MVS.

3. Start the Command Prompt on your computer. CD to the Turnkey_MVS Directory.

4. Enter the command setup to start the installation.

You will be prompted to select one of the setup options.

5. Enter Option 1 for MVS Turkey System Standard Setup.

6. Say 'Y' to install Hercules.

7. Press ENTER key for the default setup of Hercules. 

8. Again press the ENTER Key to accept the default settings for Hercules install.

9. Enter 'Y' to install the GUI mode of Hercules.

10. Say 'Y' to Cygwin Support File Installation.

11. Say 'N' to Terminal Emulator Installation.

12. Type C:\MVS_38j as the installation path for the Turnkey MVS System.

13. The next screen prompts you to enter the DASD Location. Choose option 3.

14. Enter 'Y' to copy the MVS Source Volumes.

15. Press ENTER key to copy the SMP Volumes.

16. Press ENTER Key to copy the CBT Tape Volumes.

17. Press ENTER to copy the Starter System.

18. The next set of questions asks for some operation parameters of Hercules.

19. Press ENTER Key to proceed with MVS Turnkey Installation.

20. Once the installation is complete, you must press the ENTER key to continue.

21. You are prompted to enter the number of Console(s). A master console, is where you enter MVS OS commands. Press ENTER to accept the default value(s). A 3270 Console, is where you would login to a TSO session.

22. Enter the Master Catalog Password SECRET.

The setup is now complete.
